Rebel With A Blue Dress. (OK, Maybe It's A Tad Green)

Growing up in and around the vineyards her family purchased when she was just a girl, Jen Pfeiffer has since traveled the world and become a familiar and friendly face of the Australian wine industry. In fact, the first wine she ever made was awarded a gold medal. Damn. Get it girl!

Seriously though, if you follow her escapades on NakedWines.com you already know how fun, goofy and full of life Jen is. "Rock it like a redhead" is the catchphrase she prints on every label of her wine hahaha. I love it!

But I digress...

Her wine is just as fun and full of life as she is, and I sat down (more like wandered around the house) with a bottle of The Rebel, a 2018 Sauvignon Blanc from...you guessed it... Australia.

The Review: 3.5/5

If you've been around the NakedWines.com community for any length of time, you're likely a Pfeiffer fan. As a redhead and wine lover, how could I not be? But enough about me... haha. Believe it or not, this is Jen's first white wine release on NakedWines.com , which is surprising and exciting at the same time.

The color of this delicate beauty is close to clear, yet it manages to bend the light into a bright green with a crystalline, golden hue at some angles.

The smell comes off a smidge grassy. Not so much fresh cut grass, more along the lines of a long/tall grass that you were trudging through for a few minutes, releasing the smell into a hot summer's breeze and bringing it into the house on your clothes. Yeah, that's it haha.

There’s also a little bit of fruit... maybe some kiwi or overly ripe grapefruit with a bunch of nice natural sugar essence.

The flavor has only a touch of the grass. A bit more acidity pops through, but fades as the fruit makes more headway. More of that kiwi  -adjacent flavor shows up and there's also a rind of some sort…. maybe apple? Yeah... the acidity and natural sugars are leading me towards the declaration that it's most assuredly apple. A big green one that's a bit dry but still satisfying.

I love to enjoy white wines in the afternoon but I opened this one as an evening sipper to compliment some snacks and a movie. The experiment was successful and I will continue to make sure some Pfeiffer is stocked on my shelves, ready for any day or night.

Cheers!!

Winemaker Response:

"G'day rocking redhead Erik, Lovely to hear from you again :-) What an awesome review for my Rebel Sauvignon Blanc, thank you so much!!! It's so articulate and comprehensive, I wish I was walking through long grass on a summer's day.....of course, Down Under you'd have to be careful of a DEADLY snake or two ;-) I'm really glad you enjoyed my very first white to hit the virtual shelves of NakedWines.com and I hope you will keep your shelves well stocked with JP wines - new vintages of my Rebel Temp and Rebel Cab are heading your way any day now!!! Keep an eye out :-) Thanks for your support Erik, I really appreciate it. Cheers, and never stop rocking, Jen."
